National MP Samuel Varela goes to the April session of the AN and on the agenda is the urgent issue of rehabilitating the Nossa Senhora do Monte School in Brava

The Nossa Senhora do Monte School, an institution with a rich history and a fundamental role in the education of countless generations of Bravenses, has faced significant challenges over the years related to its infrastructure. The deterioration of the facilities has been a growing cause for concern among parents, students, teachers and the community in general, negatively impacting teaching and learning conditions.

Aware of the urgency of the situation and the need for swift and effective intervention, MP Samuel Varela has been following the problem closely. Now, with the April parliamentary session approaching, he is raising the issue to a national level, seeking the direct involvement of the Ministry of Education in the search for a definitive solution.

"The rehabilitation of the Nossa Senhora do Monte School is an absolute priority for me and for the Brava community," said MP Samuel Varela vehemently in a conversation with Bravanews. "This school represents a milestone in the history of our island and is fundamental for the future of our young people. The current conditions of the facilities are not worthy of our students and teachers, and it is our duty as representatives of the people to ensure that they have a safe, healthy and adequate teaching environment."

On the agenda for the April session of the National Assembly, one of the crucial moments for achieving Varela's goal will be the scheduled meeting with the Minister of Education, Amadeu Cruz. The MP intends to take this opportunity to present the situation of the Nossa Senhora do Monte School in detail, outlining the urgent needs for intervention and defending the allocation of resources necessary for its complete rehabilitation.

"During the meeting with the Minister, I will make a point of presenting a clear picture of the reality of the school, emphasizing its historical importance, the number of students who benefit from it and the negative impact of the degradation on their lives and the educational process," explained Varela. "I will ask for the Minister's full attention and sensitivity to this cause, seeking his firm commitment so that the rehabilitation of the Nossa Senhora do Monte School becomes a reality as soon as possible."

Member of Parliament Samuel Varela also told Bravanews that he intends to explore all possible avenues within the National Assembly to push for a resolution to this issue. This could include submitting questions to the government, taking part in debates on the subject and supporting possible legislative initiatives aimed at facilitating the financing and execution of rehabilitation works in schools such as Nossa Senhora do Monte.
